Badminton England announce that badminton is unaffected by the most recent changes in the governments guidance.

Dear Club Member

Due to the current actions regarding COVID19 and rapid change of the current situation Wavell school have sent an email to the committee and I have taken extracts and added below, 

“In order to make communication with you easier at this difficult time, we would like to let you know that we will be posting regular updates on our webpage (wavellschool.org.uk) for updates regarding COVID-19.

The link below has been added to the Campus Website (Homepage) and this will take you to the schools webpage. You will see that we have posted frequently asked questions (FAQs) and we will also centralise all their Wavell Mails and GOV.UK advice there, as they come into school.”

Going to the web site regularly will help keep you up to date specially if it should close at short notice. 

They have also asked us to remind you that as a club, we have a responsibility to ensure that all members adhere to the guidelines given and we have the responsibility of telling them if any members have recently visited any of the countries named in the Public Health England communications and/or if you are showing symptoms, so that the school can take due action.

Following Government & Public Health England instructions, everybody has a responsibility to wash their hands regularly and under the circumstances if members feel that they do not want to or should not shakes hands after each game this is to be respected during this time and until further notice.

At the latest committee meeting it was decided to hold the 2018 Ladies Tournament on 20th May.  The tournament was postponed due to lack of availability, but we hope to be able to finally hold the tournament.

On Saturday 27th April WCBC will be holding a Quiz and Fun Night at Frimley Village Hall (doors open at 7pm).

Create your own team or come along and join a team (Up to 6 people in each team).
£3 a head. 
Spaces limited so book your place as soon as possible.

The tournaments start in two weeks and the form to put yourself forward to take part has been up for several weeks. It is now time to start drawing the teams. Next Monday (16th October) the committee will draw the teams.

This year, for the first time, we have split the draw into two halves. A player from the stronger half of the draw will be paired with a player from the weaker half of the draw.  Once all player from one half of the draw have been picked any remaining player will be drawn.

​

The booking form for our annual Manor House Hotel activity weekend (2nd to 5th Feb 2018) is now available. The form and deposit needs to be returned by 21st August at the latest.

We have received the below email from Wavell Campus management:

Dear Customer

It has come to our attention that the FIRE EXIT DOORS in the SPORTS HALL are being used as ENTRY & EXIT DOORS by a majority of our users.

Please note that these doors are for EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY and are NOT to be used on a daily basis.

Regular misuse of these newly installed doors, has already resulted in damage and high repair costs.

Therefore, we would be most grateful if you would please ensure that you make your club/spectators/users, aware that these doors are no longer to be used, unless in the case of an Emergency situation.

Any persons/club seen using these doors, may be held responsible for any further damage, which could result in subsequent repair costs.

Your understanding and co-operation is greatly appreciated

Wavell School is introducing a new one way traffic flow system on 31st October. The map shows the flow around the site and new signage will help you safely navigate the campas. This should not impact our normal parking area near the badminton courts but, should you need to use the additional parking at the rear of the site the one way flow must be followed.

Next Monday is a public holiday in England.  There will be no badminton until Monday 5th September.

There was a racket left behind on Monday 8th August.  It is a Yonex racket with a brown grip and is believe to have been left on top of the fence where the posts are kept (far side of the hall from the entrance).  If anyone took the taken the racket for safe keeping or handed it in can you please let a committee mamber know.

This years AGM has been scheduled for Monday 4th April and will take place after the normal badminton session. This is your club and this is your chance to have your say on how it is run.

A sheet will be put up shortly so that you can enter nominations for the committee.

Following a review of current finances (as discussed at the AGM), and with much regret, it has been decided to increase fees from £50 to £55 per six months.

Fees have been at the same level since 2005 and there has been a slow increase in court fees since then.

On the last night the club is open before the new year 20 members joined the festive celebrations at the Monkey Puzzle following badminton on Monday.  Mike presented the tournament trophies before the sausage rolls and mince pies where brought out.

The mixed tournament took place tonight.  The winners where Jade Clark and Connor McCartney in a very close final (21 to 20) with Nicki Waterlow and Phil Pointon.

The mens tournament was held tonight.  The winners were Stave Casbolt and Connor McCartney.  Clear winners in the final (21 to 12) over Pater Baccaro and Phil Pointon.
